Unit History

  • 24.02.2022 – 10.04.2022 — participation in combat operations for the liberation of Kyiv, Irpin, Bucha, and Borodianka
  • May 2022 — formation of the aerial reconnaissance group “Magyar’s Birds” with a strength of 26 personnel. The unit operated within the Territorial Defense Forces on the Kherson axis. Initial activities included patrols, enemy detection, artillery fire adjustment, and strike missions using drop munitions
  • August 2022 — acquisition of the first FPV drone. The start of experimental use of strike drones against enemy personnel and equipment. Formation of a crew training group and the first training sessions at a base near Ruska Kosa (7–10 km from the line of contact)
  • November 2022 — participation in the liberation of Kherson. Following the campaign, the unit was redeployed to the Bakhmut axis. The beginning of prolonged defensive operations on the eastern front
  • December 2022 – March 2023 — “Magyar’s Birds” operated in the areas of Bakhmut, Opytne, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Soledar, and Krasna Hora. Ongoing activities included patrols, enemy detection, artillery fire adjustment, and strike missions using drop munitions. Over 110 days, the unit employed FPV drones to halt enemy assault actions. Tactics for coordination between ground and aerial groups were developed and refined
  • March 2023 — the tactical group was reorganized into a separate strike UAV company and integrated into the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The beginning of formal structural integration into combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
  • 05.03.2023 – 11.06.2023 — combat operations on the Avdiivka and Mariinka axes, including Pisky. Active use of drones to engage enemy equipment, personnel, and artillery positions
  • 13.06.2023 – 30.09.2023 — Counteroffensive operations: Urozhaine, Staromaiorske

  • January 2024 — Unit reorganized into the 414th Separate Battalion of Strike Unmanned Aviation Systems (SBSUAS). The battalion was transferred to the Marine Corps of the Ukrainian Navy. Formation of the structural core of repair, training, and support units.
  • 03.10.2023–31.07.2024 — Left-Bank Bridgehead, Kherson. Throughout all 8 months of combat at the Krynky bridgehead, the "Magyar Birds" battalion destroyed the enemy on the left bank of Kherson Oblast, providing support to Ukrainian forces.
  • June 2024 — The battalion was expanded into a separate regiment. An in-house UAV repair base was established, along with an active operations company, FPV drone operator training schools, and EW and ELINT units. Internal R&D projects were launched in the areas of communications, optics, artificial intelligence, and munitions production.
  • 28.05.2024–17.07.2024 — "Magyar Birds" carried out combat missions in Kharkiv Oblast: Kharkiv, Vovchansk.
  • 20.07.2024–present — Pokrovsk axis. The "Pokrovsk Dome" was deployed to protect the city from enemy drones. Over 310,000 combat sorties conducted. 74,000+ targets engaged, including more than 28,000 destroyed. Over 24,000 enemy personnel hit, with approximately 15,000 eliminated.
  • 09.08.2024–10.02.2025, 09.03.2025–31.08.2025 — Kursk Oblast, russian federation.
  • 10.11.2024–present — Vuhledar axis.
  • December 2024 — The regiment was expanded into the 414th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems "Magyar Birds." Formation of a full brigade structure with training, production, and engineering infrastructure completed.
  • January 2025 — The brigade was transferred from the Marine Corps to the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
  • 09.02.2025 — "Magyar Birds" joined the units of the Drone Line.
  • 03.06.2025 — "Magyar Birds" joined the Unmanned Systems Forces Group (USFG).
  • 15.10.2025 — The "Magyar Birds" brigade was doubled in size — to 12 battalions.

Commander of the 414th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems “Magyar’s Birds”

Founder and commander of the world’s most productive strike UAV team, “Klima-Team”. Former coach and absolute ITF Taekwondo World Champion (2017, North Korea). The first brigade commander in the modern history of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to hold the rank of Junior Lieutenant.

A volunteer since the first day of the full-scale invasion, he advanced from a Territorial Defense rifleman to brigade commander.

“Klima” maintains the highest standards of operational effectiveness and strengthens the leadership position of “Magyar's Birds” among all Ukrainian military units with an unmanned systems component
