Sapper (Combat Engineer)

The sapper provides engineering safety for the unit: surveys terrain and movement routes ahead of deployment, locates and neutralizes explosive hazards, and inspects belongings, premises and vehicles. Stands duty to respond to sudden call-outs, escorts dog handlers and trains personnel in mine safety. Works within an engineer element, in constant readiness to deploy.
Responsibilities
- standing duty to respond to sudden tasks;
- engineer reconnaissance of terrain and the unit's movement routes;
- inspecting and neutralizing explosive hazards;
- searching belongings, premises and vehicles, escorting dog handlers;
- assisting personnel with handling munitions and initiating devices;
- training personnel in basic mine safety and recognition of explosive hazards.
Requirements
- physical fitness for handling loads in the field;
- psychological resilience and sound judgement under pressure;
- attentiveness and discipline;
- knowledge and experience of handling explosives is an advantage;
- experience in humanitarian demining is an advantage.
Conditions
- service under contract or through mobilization; transfer for those already serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with their commander's consent;
- monthly pay from UAH 20,000 to UAH 120,000;
