The telecommunications and radio engineer keeps a stable radio link between unmanned aircraft and the control station: deploys repeaters and ground stations, measures radio-frequency circuits and selects working frequencies under constant jamming. The work is done within the communications team of an unmanned systems brigade and combines field trips with bench measurements.
Responsibilities
- keeping a reliable link between unmanned systems and the control centre;
- deploying, configuring and maintaining repeaters and ground stations;
- measuring radio-frequency components with a vector network analyser (VNA);
- analysing the radio environment with software-defined radio (SDR) and selecting working frequencies;
- troubleshooting antenna feed lines and transceiver equipment;
- keeping technical records for deployed communication nodes.
Requirements
- knowledge of current radio link technologies used for FPV drones;
- experience in building and operating repeaters and ground stations;
- ability to measure radio-frequency components and systems with a VNA;
- knowledge of SDR principles and experience in processing radio signals;
- understanding of electronic warfare and signals intelligence methods and equipment.
Conditions
- service under contract or through mobilization; transfer for those already serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- monthly pay from UAH 20,000 to UAH 50,000;
- service away from the front line;
- housing, uniform, equipment and meals provided;
- 15 days of leave every six months.
