FPV Drone Pilot

An FPV Drone Pilot is a specialist who prepares, plans, and executes missions using FPV platforms in combat conditions. The role combines precise real-time aircraft control, fast decision-making, an understanding of communications and navigation limitations, and basic technical support of the drone system before and after flights.

Responsibilities

  • pilot FPV drones during assigned missions;
  • plan flights by selecting routes, altitudes, and approach/exit paths based on terrain, weather, and air defense and electronic warfare threats;
  • understand the mission objective and adjust the employment approach based on the situation;
  • ensure mission readiness of the kit: communications links, batteries, payload/ammunition, and the appropriate configuration for the task;
  • follow safe operating procedures for uncrewed aircraft systems;
  • coordinate with the on-duty operations coordinator and provide concise status updates during mission execution;
  • keep the drone system operational at the user-maintenance level (pre-flight checks, fault identification, handoff for repair/maintenance through standard procedures);
  • follow information-security rules when handling video feeds, coordinates, and mission materials.

Requirements

  • confident use of a controller, computer, and communications equipment;
  • strong hand-eye coordination and fast reaction time;
  • attention to detail, responsibility, and discipline;
  • ability to work in a team and follow procedures;
  • basic navigation and terrain-orientation skills;
  • readiness to operate in an active combat environment.
  • prior UAS/drone experience or simulator-based training is an advantage;
  • experience with mapping software and navigation tools is an advantage;
  • basic understanding of flight principles is an advantage.

Conditions

  • mobilization for the period of martial law or contract-based service;
  • pre-role training and qualification (training available for candidates without experience);
  • provision of necessary equipment and gear;
  • annual leave in line with applicable regulations;
  • pay: UAH 120,000/month while assigned to combat tasks.
