Backend Infrastructure Software Engineer

The backend infrastructure software engineer builds and maintains the server side of the brigade's internal systems: designs APIs, works with databases, message queues and caching, deploys services and keeps them stable under load. The work is within a software development team, in close contact with engineers from related areas and the people who use the systems.
Responsibilities
- developing and maintaining backend services for the brigade's internal systems;
- designing and implementing REST or gRPC APIs;
- working with databases, message queues and caching;
- deploying services in Docker and maintaining CI/CD pipelines;
- monitoring system health and investigating incidents;
- optimizing service latency and throughput.
Requirements
- at least a year of experience developing backend services in Python, Java or C++;
- knowledge of data structures, multithreading and TCP/UDP/HTTP networking;
- experience with Linux: command line, processes, logs, network tools;
- skills in working with APIs and the JSON and Protobuf formats;
- familiarity with at least one database: PostgreSQL, MySQL or Redis;
- technical English at intermediate level;
- experience with Kafka, Kubernetes or real-time systems is an advantage.
Conditions
- service under contract or through mobilization; transfer for those already serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- monthly pay from UAH 20,000 to UAH 50,000;
- uniform, equipment and meals provided;
- annual paid leave and statutory social guarantees.
