
Electronic Warfare (EW) Operator
An Electronic Warfare (EW) Operator works with radio direction-finding and electronic countermeasure equipment to detect hostile transmitters, support counter-UAS activities, assess the electromagnetic environment, and deliver actionable data to command elements. This role combines hands-on technical work, data handling, and close coordination with other units.
Responsibilities
- Use direction-finding tools to detect and locate sources of hostile radio signals and unmanned aerial systems (UAS);
- Employ EW systems to disrupt hostile communications, counter UAS activity, and affect radar and other electronic systems when required;
- Monitor and analyze the electromagnetic environment to support situational awareness and information advantage;
- Process direction-finding and EW outputs and relay results to command posts for further analysis and operational planning;
- Train and brief personnel on the use of EW and direction-finding equipment, maintaining a high level of readiness;
- Perform routine technical checks, basic maintenance, and calibration to ensure reliable operation of equipment.
Requirements
- Technical education in electronics, radio engineering, telecommunications, or related fields;
- Prior experience with direction-finding equipment and/or EW systems is an advantage;
- Understanding of EW principles and how such systems are employed in field conditions;
- Ability to work effectively under high stress, with fast, sound decision-making in critical situations;
- Confident use of modern technical devices for signal detection and communications/UAS disruption;
- Strong coordination skills and ability to operate as part of a team to accomplish assigned tasks.
