The platoon combat medic provides first aid under tactical medicine protocols during the unit's training and missions: triages the wounded, decides the order of care and escorts casualties to the handover point. Day to day, the medic keeps first aid kits and medical supplies stocked, records the care provided and teaches fellow platoon members self-aid and buddy aid.
Responsibilities
- providing first aid to the wounded under tactical medicine protocols;
- triaging casualties and deciding the order of care;
- taking part in evacuating casualties from the scene to the handover point;
- teaching personnel self-aid and buddy aid techniques;
- checking that individual first aid kits and medical supplies are complete;
- keeping records of care provided and casualties handed over.
Requirements
- combat medic course or other medical training;
- knowledge of first aid standards and procedures;
- ability to act in stressful situations;
- attention to detail and the ability to make quick, sound decisions;
- good physical fitness for working with casualties in the field;
- combat experience is an advantage.
Conditions
- service under contract or through mobilization; transfer available for those already serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- monthly pay from UAH 20,000 to UAH 120,000;
- full uniform and food provision;
- annual paid leave and social guarantees under the law.
